I am number one in google for search term thats gets 6600 exact searches a month, but the visits to site is not adding up,, I am a noob so I was curious if there was a method to see if someone is stealing my traffic or redirecting somehow.. Probably a very dumb question , but just curious..

Are you SURE you're number 1? Are you looking at Google either logged into a Google account or with Google's preferences saved? This is the most common reason people think they're #1 and wonder why they aren't getting traffic. If not, it's highly doubtful you were "hacked" or anything like that, but if you truly are #1 for a search term which gets 6600 exact searches/month you should definitely be getting more than 8 visitors a day |

what u see in google keyword search is a value which is a 12 month average... how long has ur site been in the number 1 position? if u just got to that position, maybe hang on a little while longer.. it could be that coincidentally very few are searching for that keyword this month..

PBR is phrase to broad match... Market Samurai recommends you set that to at least 15% when you're filtering for profitable keywords. The video tutorials that come with MS explain all of it. It's definitely worth a couple of hours of your time to watch those videos.

No one can steal your traffic...something must be wrong along the way you check your stats...it could be the figure wrong or the counter you are using is not accurate...

If you have a site with 6000 ish global EXACT matches and are truly #1 in Google... First, you said "global" which would mean ALL countries on that planet...which means ALL googles. I have my doubt you are #1 in ALL countries..because only then you would be able to get the full "global" search volume. It's no use when 48 search for this in the US, you are #1 in Google.com (US)....but NOT #1 in all other googles. (My own market is only US (and UK)...so i always, always look for exact matches LOCAL and do all keyword research selecting "USA", just as a side-note.) Very important: I have not seen that mentioned often, but the numbers keyword tools give you CAN be deceiving. For example, Google keyword tool gives an AVERAGE monthly search volume based on the last 12 or so month. SOME keywords have spikes for a certain amount of time (think: release of a new ipad or similar)...so there are thousands searching maybe months ago before it was released and a spike the days it came out. But what is important is the ACTUAL search volume TODAY. Do you think that RIGHT NOW many are looking for "halloween customes"? HARDLY, because halloween is over. You always also need to look at the trends (those green bars)...and check whether a keyword maybe died out in the meantime..and only when you see that the search volume is constant through the last 12 months you can trust those average numbers! Edit: "Halloween Costumes" has over 800.000 monthly/local searches in the US. But its a given that ALL/MOST of those searches happen in October/September..although Google tells me now it has 800.000 searches...but we can assume no person is searching this right now ![]() So..its possible your keyword is one of those seasonal keywords? |

Yes keywords can be seasonal it seems the searches that you have mentioned are search only during particular season & not in all the season & one of the seasons must have given this kind of keyword searches. Also this kind of pattern changes throughout the year

Are you checking your rank at google.com ?? google for particular country has differnt results. this might be the reason for the low visits

How did you get your Analytic data? I suspect that somewhere in your site analytic code is screwed up. Double Check this Code, like viewing the source from the browser if the analytic data really exist and coded correctly .

You are probably only #1 in the US or a few other countries. Check your results from other data centres by adding the string &gl= at the end of your search url. eg. &gl=uk for results from the UK; &gl=au for results from Australia etc. Also, google's keyword tool data is often wrong, dont assume that because it tells you there is a certain search volume you will get that much traffic. Some KWs are seasonal, others may have spiked in popularity 6 months ago and now get much less traffic. |
