Default Spammer

Hello, does anyone know of any way to block a spammer. Someone keeps blasting my blog with spam comments. The spam is getting blocked, I just have to delete it from the spam folder. I have the person's IP address as well. Any info would help thanks.

They are probably using proxies though, so they will come back eventually with new IP addresses.

What blogging platform are you using?

If you are using Wordpress, I just recently started using the SI CAPTCHA Anti-Spam plugin on one site to test it out. The site used to get between 20-30 spam comments a day. It got 1 this week.

Another option is to remove the Wordpress comments.php + any php code in the single.php file that calls the comment template. Then install a facebook comments iframe code, I think WP has free FB plugins that might help.

Really it depends on the demographics of the sites traffic, If most are FB users it might be something they'll use. Plus an iframe won't dilute on-page seo since the comments are not on-page text.
