Default No. 1 on Google but little traffic

For almost 2 months I have been no. 1 on Google for a keyword that is getting around 27,000 searches a month (according to the Google keyword tool). Only problem is, that my site receives only about 1,300 visitors a month. It seems a little weird to me, that only 5% end up on my site, although I'm in the first spot.
I have removed cookies, checked the Google search results on a entirely different PC in an entirely different area.
My site always pops up in the first spot, so I am clearly not only dominating the regional results.

I have literally no explanation for that, but I would very much appreciate it, if some of you guys did.

Thanks in advance!

Are you signed in to Google when you get #1?

That might be the reason you show up as #1.

Go to Scroogle.org and use their search function (Scroogle Scaper). Enter in your keyword and click search. If your website is not number 1, you found the problem.

Do you use Market Samurai? ( I am not affiliated with them or asking you to buy it lol) .. Market Samurai shows something called PBR and it should be more than 15% to get some decent traffic..its Phrase-to-Broad Ratio

Which network were the 27,000 monthly views coming from? Not all google monthly views come from the google search engine...... for example 20,000 may come from youtube and 2,000 may come from AOL, yet depending on how you use the keyword tool, you would believe 27,000 come from the google search network.

One big reason why you might be receiving less traffic even when you are on the top spot of the SERP is the number of sponsored ads you have for that keyword.

Type the keyword on google and see. There are some very good keyword that generates a reasonable amount of traffic every month but the keywords have about 8 or more sponsored ads, three on the top, five on the left hand side and some times at the every end of the search result you still find one or two sponsored ads.

In this case, the queries the keyword generates will be shared among 18 or more sites instead of 10.

There is no mystery. The search estimates are wrong. Nobody is searching for your keyword, that is why you aren't getting traffic.

For my keyword, when I use "broad" it says search volume 65,000
"exact" is at 8,100
I'm on #2 organic position, 3 sponsored results on top of everytime, getting about 1,000 visitors a month.

If you're using Firefox then try to use private browsing to make sure you're #1 and not getting customized results..

That monthly number for Google keyword tool is an average based on the previous entire year.

That number is not the exact number that will be searched every single month.

You might have a keyword that gets 1,000 search in December & 30,000 search in July.

You have to consider Google Trends If your going to be targeting a keyword & need traffic for all 12 months of the year.

That monthly average only works If you rank the keyword for an entire year (it's an average only)!
