I have two websites that I have created for a local business in Oklahoma CIty, One is a free site, the other is paid. They are BOTH on the first page of google (top 5). Is this just beginners luck or a non competitive market. It seems there are quite a few websites for Oklahoma City Locksmiths. Just thought I'd brag a little. Im going for the number 1 slot but im afraid my domain age is hurting that.

I think domain age does play a fairly big role. I dont think its be be all and end all but it does help. Id say that there are not many locksmiths doing SEO in that area if you got that high that fast. Well done though, hopefully it will generate some work for them and they pay you for years to come to keep them there |

Well I don't do SEO by profession, I did it out of necessity. I own the locksmith/lockout business I built the sites for (I am a one man operation) I started out about 7 months ago doing vehicle unlocks with my only advertising on Craigslist. Everything has blossomed from there. I built my first site, got a merchant account so I can accept credit cards on my mobile device, started an adwords campaign, and started doing some SEO. I built the second site about a month ago (okclocksmith.com) after learning from my mistakes on the first site. I used better keywords, keyword in the URL, and so on and It actually is ranking higher than my first site with minimal backlinks. Im now looking for a good backlink service to help out my (okclocksmith) website. I don't think I need thousands, I want a hundred or so QUALITY backlinks. I would do it myself but I stay plenty busy unlocking cars. Could someone direct me to a good service. |

I have a competitor who ranks 1,2 on about 200 kws in my new niche his domain is 13 yrs old he routinely gets outranked by sites less than 1 yrs old why? his site is very poorly backlinked, the new sites backlink better than he does |

Most city specific sites are relatively easy to rank for with relatively minimal backlinks. I often rank my local clients for every variation of their keywords (e.g., locksmith City, locksmith City ST, locksmith City State). When you're working with 3 variations of every root keyword phrase, they add up quickly! A lot of local businesses are still catching up. Heck, many of them don't even have a basic website yet. But one day there will be even more competition for local phrases, so I give them a good head start |
