How to easily cross link WordPress posts for max SEO effect

If one has several WordPress posts on the same topic, one would get a SEO effect from cross linking them. Which method/plugin do you think is the best for that purpose?

Any sort of "related posts" plugin displaying at the end of the blog posts? (if so, which?)
Word Cloud?
Tags beneath the posts?

Another method is putting in a sentance in the blog post (such as they normally do in newspapers) like "Read also: name of related article".
