Hello, I noticed one blog comment where there was a XML sitemap url instead if home page url. What do you think about it, is it a useful practice for SEO? Thank you! |

It was a website that was ranking very high for high competitive keyword, this makes me think the url of XML sitemap was not used by accident.

I do not think that you can get higher rank with site map .xml. It is just an accident.

I accidentally entered a xml sitemap into a blog name field not long ago. I didn't do so on purpose. I was using firefox and it remembers links I have used. Sometimes the name field is not very wide and easy to see the full link url. I guess I must have selected the wrong one since I couldn't see it very good. Either that or firefox messed up a little on me. It could be on purpose or it could have been simply selecting the wrong link.

I read a few comments on how people use all the links on their site to help increase their presence when formatting backlinks, everything from articles to the About page. The person may have just added the sitemap as another internal linking structure.

But doing a little research seems that guy is always using XML sitemap url when commenting and is doing great with the site ranking.

XML is for search engine. It does not give back link. You dnt need to make links for it. Use homepage address

Not all internal links are created equal, but they all still can count for something.

| Personally it is hard for me to believe it is accident because that guy is making about $1500 a month with Adsense with that site and the site is just 4 months old. Maybe the reason of using xml sitemap url in comments is to protect the Adsense account? |

Hey, I haven't considered ranking of the site you saw the sitemap of in a comment and then only it seemed that it could be a good strategy, at least trying once will not harm anywhere. Thanks for posting the thread, I was wondering for some new strategies as these days don't know exactly why Google is dropping rankings as the site I am working for has dropped badly from page 2nd to 40th . Wondering if you could explain some most probable reasons because I did lots of research but didn't got any proper reason. Thanks anyways! |
