Mixing PLR and Original Content?

Hoping to get some responses from marketers who have actually done this vs "in theory". Thanks!

I am building an authority site and will focus much of my traffic efforts outside of using SEO methods. I plan to add some great PLR content as filler for the site and to use for auto-responder newsletters. I don't really want to play around with rewriting this PLR as I do not intend to get these pages ranked.

My question is, I do want to add original content such as product/service reviews and authoritative articles. Will I have any SEO issues in trying to rank these individual pages (will seo optimize and backlink to these individual pages) if my site contains alot of duplicate content?
