If I have a bunch of pages on my site, is it better to build links back to a main landing page or focus on several of the top pages on the site?

What is the dilution factor?

It would be good if you build links to all the other pages including the home page.

I would weight the links you're building so more to the main page, a good amount to major sections of the site and a few to deeper pages.
