Default Frequently Updated Coupons- SEO Strategy Needed

I have a few sites that I post coupon codes and printable coupons on. I have a site on CouponPress, and a couple of regular WP site with coupons. I am tired of trying to figure out the best way to optimize it. I want to know what you would do.

Should I assign one post (or page?) to one store for ALL coupon codes for that store? For example- GoDaddy coupon codes. Should I just update and republish the SAME post each time there is a new code or should I make a new post each time?

I have always stuck posts in a category and backlinked a category. The problem is when I post a new post, sometimes the new post might outrank the category. Then that post eventually becomes outdated and it is still ranks well. So then I have to update the "old posts" but people skip over it in Google because the URL displays an outdated date.

The reason I have always made new posts, is because I liked to add long tail keywords to get more search traffic to each post. However, if I am ranking number 3 in Google for a particular coupon code, then that becomes outdated, obviously it doesn't help. Yes I know I can update the post, but I'm trying to get the "category" or "post" to look clean and current when it comes up in Google. Does that make sense?

For example- couponsiteabc.com/view/godaddy instead of couponsiteabc.com/view/godaddy-10-percent-off-2010

Any suggestions?

I also have a coupon site. I use the Category pages as the pages I link to. The page gets new content with every coupon, and the page never goes old.

What plugin do you use for SEO? Most of them set NOINDEX on the category page, so you need to turn that off. I use HeadSpace2 to add Meta Description and Keywords to the category pages. Make sure your theme shows the description on the category page so you have some unique content. I also added another description to my categories, so I have the main description, then the coupons, then more text under neath, just for more unique content (since the coupons are mostly duplicate).

If you need some help with your theme, let me know. I was searching for a coupon Wordpress theme, and I remember there was 2 decent ones. 1 of them was HORRIBLE for SEO, and the other just didn't have the design I liked. I found one free theme that I tweaked the heck out of to get working.

Thanks for your help. I just checked the NOINDEX on one site and it is off but I need to check the others. Great tips, infact, the plugin I uses allows me to edit but I never have. I use SEO Ultimate. Totally recommended. I would love to chat sometime about the coupon code theme. I currently use CouponPress for one website. Although I have been in IM for about a year, I am very new still to all this coding, html stuff. I find it a bit difficult for someone like me, so my husband has to help with that.
