Hi I have a site currently ranking on page 2 in Google for a competitive keyword. I will like to know from your honest recommendation which is the best WSO value that has the best pure edu and gov backlinks that will give my site a big boost to page 1 for my keyword. I see so many offering edu backlinks but I am not sure which one to choose. I was also thinking if I can choose a longtail keyword that is super low in competition and has at least 1000 exact global searches per month that can easily rank on page 1 of google with just one edu package. I just don't know how to choose that golden keyword that is related to my niche that can get me that number 1 spot easily with one edu package. Any help would be appreciated. I am new in here so please take it easy on me. Thank you all |

I have read several very authoritative reports recently, written by noted 'scholars' of the internet, who state that .EDU and .GOV backlinks actually provide no more authority than backlinks created in niche focused .COM and .NET websites. In their opinion, Google see no more value in a backlink from a PR5 (6 or 7) .EDU or .GOV website, than from a PR5 (6 or 7) .COM website.

Wow?! So you are saying that backlinks with pr5-pr7 from .com's are the same as .edu's pr5-pr7. They both provide the same authority and the same link juice? I never new that. Ok so now I am totally lost by your post. So why do I hear that edu and gov backlinks are the best if you want to rank fast in google? Also I heard that they have to be relevant to your niche. Ok please clarify |

I know. My plan was to learn how to do proper keyword research, find a keyword that can easily rank fast on google that is relevant to my niche site, then buy an edu package and wait and see the results. Maybe I am thinking too simple. But my coach in middle school gave me the KISS rule Keep It Simple Stupid, lol Maybe that doesn't apply to internet marketing |

I mean that you've put your finger just about all of the hot-button issues when it comes to backlinks... Is .edu better than .com? Are links from sites in the same niche more valuable? Are no-follow links worth anything? How about that link from that site I don't even know what language it's in? I'd like to hear what some have to say about this... Jeremy |

I'll try to find some of the documentation I was reading, but here is a link to a Matt Cutts video (you'll need to watch it through to the end).
