Fellow Warriors, I wonder if you guys have experienced this situation before. This happened to me just a couple of hours ago. I have a one-page Web 2.0 site that has been ranking on the 2nd page of Google SERP (#11) for about a week now. Just 2 days ago, I did some Angela Backlinks (not many, less than 10, I guess). This morning, I was so happy to see my site has propelled to #1 of Google. It then sat there for a few hours. When I checked again, it has disappeared from page 1 and end up ranked even lower than it previously was (now at #14, page 2). Has anyone seen this before? Is there any known reason(s) for this? I'm only worried that this is a bad sign from Google. As I'm very inexperienced in Internet Marketing (just started off 3 months ago), I totally have no idea what has just happened... Please shed me some lights, fellow warriors........ End my misery...... ![]() -MK |

it could be a number of things - first -> google dance (this happens often where your SERPS will bounce around can be due to sudden boost in backlinks too fast etc. or bad quality which eventually gets caught. try building solid quality backlinks and your rank should come back - second -> if you were logged into google then its possible that your site showed up higher either from +1 vote you gave your own site, or just becaue you perosnally visit it alot - check from different IPs and see if your rank is the same on those - also - if nots the case then it will probably bounce back up again just keep building a solid backlink profile! |

If your site ranks for a keyword, and you've visited your site, it will show as #1 but only to you because you've already visited this site and Google thinks it's relevant to you. I had one of my articles on my site rank in less than an hour last night. I guess I was just lucky. The article was indexed almost instantly and then around 30 minutes later was on page 2 and it's still there today. This is on a PR5 domain though. I usually find any site > PR0 gets indexed pretty quick by Google. You could theoretically rank #1 in an hour if there's little competition for the keyword and the results returned by Google are not really relevant to what the user is searching. I.e your content is the most relevant to Google. You would probably need at least PR1 though. Never experienced this sort of behavior with PR0 or with new sites. |

This happens alot to people and their websites, people notice their website as #1 than see it disappear. Updates to SERP will have this impact. | |

Google is implementing a new update in their Algo that allows certain sites to rank #1 temporarily to provide press content to visitors.

I had this happen to me earlier today. It wasn't a "being logged in" issue because my Adsense revenue skyrocketed simultaneously. I went from #48 to #4 and now I'm back at #48 again. Very strange...
