Default Domain has expired - site been removed from google, should i bother renewing?

The domain should have been transferred over to me, but it turns out it hasnt and now my domain has been expired for over a week now, which mean my site has been offline. im trying to contact the person who owns it but no luck yet.

I have been trying for 4-6 months to get my site ranked for a very competitive keyword and now i have been removed from google search completely as at the moment the page is just showing godaddy domain expired page -_-

Is all hope lost? Should i just forget it and move on or will it be easy enough to get back my ranking once i renew the domain?

I had a site expire actually several MONTHs expired
luckily it was not Godaddy, (who would have extorted me for 200 bucks)

It was Namecheap
they said, sure send us 10 dollars we will put the domain back in your account

Google soon reindexed it back to where it wass before

Ops! Why the domain that you have been using is not yours? If it is not registered with GoDaddy, you might have the hope to renew at their price. hm.. I afraid, you will have to pay another $200 for domain renewal already ~

Unless you want to pay $200, then forget about it, move on. If I were you, I would renew it, because for me 4 - 6 months' work is much expensive than $200.
