I've been reading that since Panda update the Web2.0, article marketing, profile links, and blog comments are becoming less effective. From what I understand a high page rank (PR5+) one way contextual backlink on the front page of a website is the 'holy grail' of all backlinks. The problem is, front page one way contextual backlinks are very difficult to come by. It takes lots of work to email (build a relationship) with the webmaster who owns such a site to get a one way backlink. So I guess the easiest (and most expensive) is to pay for the link. Would you agree with this? What are the best methods to get that one way contextual backlink to stay on the front page? Normally when I talk to webmasters, they want a linkback. I guess you could offer a guest post, but that won't stay on the front page.... I guess the next question is 'what would you pay for contextual backlink one-way backlink on a PR5 website on the front page per month?' what is a fair price? Just trying to brain storm some ideas. Thanks |

Guess I'm not the only one stumped with this... Let me rephrase the question. How much would YOU pay per month to have your contextual link exclusively on a PR5 front page? |

You have a few options really if you want a link to stay on the front page... Subscribe to my network (you get 5! ) or you could go out and buy yourself a PR5 site, host it and put content on in then give a link from that site to someone in exchange for a link to your main site.I would go with the first option |

Gear monkey depending on your keywords you do not have to have a PR5 link I have seen sites do quite well even with PR3s and low OBL. The outbound links in the equation is what everyone misses. You can get a PR5 with a 100-200 links on it and it have the pushing power of a PR2 or worse.

Hey that's a good idea. I could just buy a PR6 domain for like $100, remove all the old OBLs (if it's a used website), write a unique article with my link and keyword and let it cook. Building a network is pretty easy, I already have the software to maintain it. maybe I could recoup some of expense by selling a 2nd article and link on the home page in addition to mine. 4 OBLs on the home page should be fine. Is this a worthwhile idea? I am sure high PR domains can be found cheap. |

To help put it in to perspective, I have rented out links to very high profile companies (you've seen their adverts on TV) at $40 per month on a PR 3 homepage.

To be honest, you can get unlimited PR7 to PR6 for free.

Are these all fake page ranks? I dunno. But everybody and their brother are selling page rank domains on the cheap. I'm more concerned about the maintenance and hosting service than I am about the price of a aged domain.

Not all sellers on DP are bad. Last year I bought a valid PR4 vBulletin forum with over 3,000 members (emails are what I wanted) for $80. It's currently a PR3 because I don't do anything with it... it just sits there. I was researching one of my competitors and I noticed he's getting his link exclusively on PR5 webistes. I did some further research and found he's buying these domains off DP. One in particular sold over 4 months ago for $60 bucks and it's still a PR5. You can get ripped off anywhere. You just have to do your homework and be smart about it. But if you can give more tips what to look for and how to buy domains, I am all ears. So far I guess you can consider me lucky, but I think the risk is well worth the reward. Thanks EDIT: Just to be clear, the type of dot-com PR5+ domains I am talking about that sell REALLY cheap are names like 'blue-red-summer-festival-2009', for example. These are completely outdated and useless to most webmasters. But the thing is they were heavily marketed and have links all over by not just the marketing campaign they performed in 2009, but by people sharing the link on message forums, blogs, press release and etc.

If you do your research you can EASILY find high PR domains with REAL page rank and thousands of backlinks for cheap. Just found a PR4 with over 2600 natural backlinks for $32 bucks. Also found a PR5 for $75. Don't let people discourage you. The domains are out there for the taking. Just be smart and do your research. |
