So this is my site Best Knife Sharpener Reviews and I was trying to rank for best knife sharpener and knife sharpener reviews...I built it in feb 2011, has 17 posts with at least 500 words each... I slowly built backlinks using articles, social bookmarking, forum profile...UAW..web 2 and all others... I look at my competitors with almost the same domain name and they managed to make it to the first page...and my site is older and has more posts...when I look at their backlinks before via Yahoo site explorer...they seem to be doing the same backlinking I am doing... I gave up on this site and will not renew it...thought I cant understand why I was not able to rank this one...while I was successful with my other sites using the same seo techniques and backlinking method... |

You need an overhaul on the URL structure, that's for sure. No offense but that URL is horrible for both traffic + SERPs (seo). Quote:

You have some url structure issues, you have coding errors and to be blunt your content screams MADE FOR ADSENSE. This may come off as rude but your content leaves a lot to be desired. Clearly someone was writing for word count and search engines. Just my $.02 |

Your tag pages are indexed and showing significant amounts of duplicate content. I would have no-indexed those pages and/or not used tags at all. ADDING: Also, too many off topic profile links as backlinks. Overall, a major duplicate content issue plus lack of relevant on-topic backlinks. This could be cleaned up if you wanted to no-index the tag pages, build high quality backlinks, and tighten up the content a bit. You mentioned that this was one of several sites built the same way? I'd definitely address the dup issue on your other sites before they suffer a similar fate. Good luck! |

When using this validator (and finding a lot of errors) how do you fix them? Is there a tutorial or something available? I have no idea what some of these errors mean.

Why did you have to write "the best kife sharpener" about 100 times? You could have written 40,000 words on the page and not mentioned "the best knife sharpener" once and still ranked. But because you've done what you've done you aren't going to rank. My advice is to go broader with your niche too. Something like best-kitchen-utensils.com and make the site damn informative and VALUABLE to the reader. Provide them with everything they need to move forward on their decision which includes adsense, links to where they can buy the products, and anything else you think they need. There was a really good example of a site like this a while back: Best Cookware: Reviews for All Clad, Calphalon, Kitchen Cookware Sets If you study that site, you'll learn lots. Good luck. |

yeah this site looks like a MFA side all the way..and I think that is what you're going for. Url structure needs work. Add a contact page and sitemap to index page and create some original content and next time you build a site...turn off ping in WP office until you get 5 or more posts of 500 words of unique content. Then turn ping/and or block search engines back on.

The site itself is not that badly put together. It's not screaming "made for Adsense" but it does have content issues. There's two way which you can remedy this, you could go through the hassle of creating permanent redirects to the one relevant page for all your tags and categories OR the easier route, no follow all your tags and categories. My recommendation would be to change your categories so they are just that, only a category, and then create a custom menu where only your posts show in the widget instead of your tags and categories. I've always felt a site looks clunky and cluttered when it's filled with tags and categories. If you are going to build out more, you could always use a tree structure set up in the side bar and have your categories are visible and when clicked on, relevant posts show underneath. Once again this makes the site look less cluttered and messy. |

Ranking is solely about backlinks. On page SEO and content help but in order to move up its all backlinks and lots of them. I could definitely get you ranked page 1 for most keywords in about a month but Panda may not let you stay there by the looks of the website. But then again Panda makes no sense to me these days so who knows.

websites only ranks better when effective Onpage is promoted by authoritative links. so, without effective onpage building links is just like dancing in front of a blind person.

This is a really common mistake/problem I see in affiliate marketing sites: People get so wrapped up in SEO that they forget to actually make a good site. Is the site visually pleasing? Does it have a nice design with custom graphics and an easy to navigate layout? Is it written for humans? Does it actually provide something of value to the visitor? Most affiliate sites I see fail one or all of those tests, and don't really deserve to be ranked high. |

If the kw density for "best knife sharpener" is above normal google will penalize you sometimes they will penalize you severely if it looks that abnormal I would do no more than 2 percent |

Oh my....Every single paragraph starts with "The best knife sharpener"...How easy could you make it for Google. On the homepage you have exactly 106 instances of "knife sharpener". Why would you expect Google to rank you well? |

I have on more then 1 occasion ranked the completely wrong website for the wrong terms. For example I once ranked an "auto insurance' site for "leather chairs". I have an elaborate system of custom bots and if I set things wrong sometimes links will be built with the wrong anchors. This really woke me up to just how little importance onpage matters if you have enough links.

Can you fix this by creating fluff posts? Say you have very dense KW posts. Can you have empty posts to balance it out? Or does it have to be within posts? I just checked my site on one of those KW checkers and i got a 15% KW densitty for one of the two words in my KW. Its a problem, I think.

Ideally, KW density should be 2 percent, IMO, thats perfect certainly high enough to satisfy onsite SEO kw density, with a 15 percent density already existing Lets say you doubled the number of words in your page thats getting it down to now half that density, ok but it gets harder after that You would have to increase the sites posts by roughly 500 to 700 percent to get the density down to 2 percent, and thats ridiculous thats why I said easier to just start over Or I guess you could go in and change the words in the original post, where you see that bad kw, to something else would google like that? probably not but I think they probabaly hate 15 percent kw density more than they would hate you changing those kws to different words

if you want to get forst page position for above mentioned keywords then first of all you need to create a strategy to compete with your competitors. 1. Create a link wheel with all unique article 2. Try to get links from authorized website 3. Do relevant dorums and Blog Comment (Do Follow) 4. Do local listing and local business listing in order to get more leads |

You have the word "knife sharpener" like 900 billion times on your site. This is a dead give-away for a "over-seoed" site..its basically keyword stuffing with all those tags and links and xyz knife sharpener. You also don't have a contact-us and terms. Instead of having 900 zillion articles on there about "knife sharpener" you could probably have better rankings with a site with only 3 articles and DECENT keyword density and good quality, helpful articles. You know you have the word "knife sharpener" on your home page 75 times?! Also..you make the mistake to link to categories AND tags...but you should never do that! You use either category pages (but then not 5 million of them)..or tags...and whatever you use you need to make sure to exclude the other from indexing...and NOT how you did making one and the same article appear under tags and categories. Its always better to only show excerpts in the archives (tags or categories)..and then with "read more..." point to the actual article....it's just smarter to do it that way. Within wordpress or your theme..always only show excerpts on the archive pages...or use plugins which do that. |

If some thing is not working move on others.. Also article should be written for humans. Even you still want to try little harder.. add 500 social bookmarking from 500 different sites. Use blog blur print/ AMR / backlink philipins etc. |
