How do you feel about buying blogroll links on PR5/PR6 blogs?

Of course the OBLs will be high because they sell blogroll links. I'm guessing around 100 OBLs.

What is the value? Is it worth it?

That is a good question and while searching the net, checking out linking patterns being used by webmasters, you will find some top-ranking domains powered by similar Blogroll systems while many others do not have such linking bundles. If the blogs which are selling links cover subjects which are more or less similar to your own portal, the links can be helpful and if traffic stats of the blogs are strong, your links will gradually bring a lot of visitors to your homepage as well.

Of course you can do some tests to ensure the sites are in good shape. For example, take a look at the number of outgoing links on the blogs, if there are just too many, you may consider shifting to other ones with limited links going out. The PR scores of the sites internal pages too can be another measure to take which can help you figuring out how stable the sites are. Also check out the number of pages being added to the sites and how their indexing records are on Google and other engines.

i would prefer to get a deeplink from the same domain rather than going for blog roll with 100 OBL because the SE bots will easily depict that some thing is wrong there.

Deeplink isn't an option. Would you turn down a free one-way PR6 blogroll link back?

Possibly according to matt cutts. I've heard from some gurus as well that pr is not that effective anymore if spammed and untargeted due to recent update.

i don't think pr matters much anymore either. it was something very nice in the past to have.

Page rank does matter if your link is being placed there. For the site with the actual PR is doesn't matter as much, as far as ranking etc...
