Will Google Transition to SMO From SEO?

I've read numerous updates about Google and what they have been up to, in terms of focus and benefits for webmasters. From what I can gather, Google seems to be favoring the SMO side of the web, rather than the SEO, both on and off site.
Has anybody else seen this trend or experienced this slight change?

I have seen changes since the Panda updates. Article sites and some sites about making money have been hit a bit hard, but I think the basics of SEO still apply.

I have also found that after the panda update , google shows the more results from the social media and contains video more in the results. And as per me google have done all these changes in the direction of to make its social network g+ as the huge one. So we can assume that in future time all will be depend on the SMO apart from the SEO and may be SMO whole going to be the separate one instead of the part of the SEO.

Well it means Social Media Optimization or to tell it in better way is the optimization of your site in order to make it easier for your visitor to share your content thru their favorite social media networks...

Well Its True That Socail Media Optimization is Getting Pouplar Day By Day But you can not still ignore the importance of Search Engine Optimization! After Panda Update Unique content and qualitative inbound links still play vital role for enhancing your site search engine rankings!

Absolutely right! Google always want that your document, content or whatever they're, they need to be useful for your online visitors. So from that perspective now-a-day social media plays vital roles! But still you can't ignore the importance of SEO.
