Default How old should an aged domain be?

Hi guys,

How old should an aged domain really be, to being an "aged domain"?

I have a 8 month old domain that I'm using right now.

Thanks

couple of months... a year... 10 years... doesn't really matter if you are planning a real, long-term business

As old as you can get them!!!!

I have domains that are 10 years old that I have bought at auction, some at 8 years and some of 5 years.

I find that it is harder to rank for domain names that are less than 2 years old but it depends on the site, your keywords and the amount of unique content you are providing.

If you feel you need more of a kick you can always buy a 10 year old domain (often costs less than $20) and have it pointing at one of your blog posts.

everybody please remember that domain age is just one minor ranking factor - one of 200+ so the point is don't worry about it

Exactly. It may not even be a ranking factor at all.

Actually it is a major FACTOR for ranking. This is what i have found so far in my 4 years experience with IM.

I would say 3 years. 3 years makes a big difference in the ranking in my experience.

I think 2 years because that is enough time to get some credibility

When buying "aged domains" I only look at 3 years or older.

I have bought domains of all ages and while it is damn near impossible to give a solid answer to this question, I still think that 2yr old domains are the prime age.

Anything older that 2yrs doesn't really give any additional benefit for me.
