Well, Yesterday I spent a great amount of my time trying to get into blog commenting for Seo purposes, i got myself that add on with firefox and everything and learned the difference about Dofollows and Nofollows... Everything was going well and the tool was great! It would highlight every link and make things simple well as I was looking for some popular blogs to comment on I slowly started to realize that link building and blog commenting is kinda hard... unless im doing it wrong!

I went ahead and looked using that tool and all them were nofollows


So I was shocked on how hard blog commenting was well at least for me! so any guideness would be great! Thank you for your time!

It seems like all link building is time and labor intensive, especially to get the good links that really make a difference in boosting rankings. Instead of blog commenting try starting your own blog as there are many free blogging platforms out there like Typepad, and Blogger.

Well blog commenting is not hard at all, just very time consuming. Any link building strategy takes up more time than the normal traffic generation strategies. It's effective tho. Whenever I comment on other blogs, my traffic goes up and leads start coming in.

Blog commenting is not a great strategy for long term link building as it needs to be done manually for best effect and if you're going to do that then it's more about building relationships with blog owners than randomly searching for blogs just for links.

If you're looking for spamblog targets (i.e not caring what niche they're in and just looking for links) then you should probably use a tool like Scrapebox to do the research for you and filter the links so you don't spend time doing it yourself.

It can be difficult to build a list especially with all the nofollow blog comments out there. What I suggest instead of spending a heap of time doing this hire someone to do it for you.

You can have blog comment blasts to dofollow lists for as little as five dollars for 10,000 comments yes there will be a lot of low page rank sites among the list but it also looks more natural than having 10,000 pr7 links.

Blog commenting is great once you hit the groove and it becomes easier, so hang in there. I've tried a few search sites that claim to find dofollow blogs for you, but they've all been a waste of time.

To get started, you can always search for blogs with CommentLuv or KeywordLuv. These will supposedly give you dofollow links, but not all of them do - so check with your NoDoFollow plugin, which is what I guess you're using?

You can even search directly with CommentLuv if you sign up to their mailing list, which could be a quicker way than using Google.

Otherwise search in Google for something like the following, where Marketing is an example of your keyword, use whatever niche you are targeting, or a specific keyword:

There are a lot of clever little tricks to finding blogs, here are a couple of them:

Persistence is often the key. Pour a drink, put on some music, settle down and start searching. I have days when it seems every site is a NoFollow PR0, but far more often I'm uncovering DoFollow with PR and even relevance worth linking from.

The main things that are good about blog commenting is that it can deliver some traffic and you can get a lot of IP diversity in your links by just being friendly. But, it can take up a lot of time.

Manual blog commenting is indeed a very tedious and time-consuming task. It can however be rewarding if you take the time to find high PR pages to place your comments on. I wouldn't bother with commenting on low PR pages to be honest, it is simple not worth the time invested.

You can always outsource blog commenting as well, but beware of sending large amount of low pr blog comments directly at your money site - it can either get your site de-indexed or penalized.

If you want to outsource blog commenting, I would look for providers that offer high PR blog commenting services. They're not cheap, but they are a lot more effective than the junky spam most blog comment providers send at your site.

Blog commenting IS time consuming.

If the blog you are commenting to is related to your niche, comment on it EVEN IF it is 'no follow'. It will not pass on (give you) PR, BUT it will give you 'relevance' (and thus authority) depending upon the keyword (anchor text). This means, you are better off commenting on "KeywordLuv" or "CommentLuv" blogs.

IF the blog is not of your niche, don't bother commenting (except high PR, which mostly will be nofollow).

Don't spam, leave a REAL comment (not genuine ). This (not spamming) inevitably makes it time consuming. You may make your comments pre-pre-sell pitch (in extremely un-obvious way), if you can. The traffic you receive may be highly targeted (although not much in volume), so write your comment accordingly.

Maintain the url of commented blog in a text file initially. Next time, go on commenting on the same blogs (say after a week), when you will see which of your comments are approved. If they are not approved, don't bother commenting again. After 4 weeks (or 4 cycles) you will have a list of blogs related to your niche, and you will have developed a reputation as a commenter. Now on, you have your own properties to place your links on (sort of) in that particular niche. Go, enjoy.

A little patience and organization is the key.

In my case I benefited from building relationships with other bloggers, which resulted in a lot of cross-posting, links to me from larger sites, good sharing of our best content. It really expanded my network, and I make sure to add good input to their blogs as well. Everyone wins.

... but it took a lot of ongoing commenting on the same blogs for their bloggers to get to know me and see I was a good guy with something to contribute and not just another jerk with a blog trying to steal their traffic. Not calling anyone that, just addressing that impression people get

You say that as if it's something bad, Tony? This makes me wonder what you've learned about no-follow backlinks?

There's certainly an enormous amount of misinformation about on this subject.

And some of them say that it's actually far from clear that Google treats "no-follow" backlinks any differently from any other backlinks.

When I do "blog-commenting", I have no interest at all in whether or not the backlink is no-follow. (I have the Firefox 8.0 one-click toy, to tell, but I don't bother). I benefit from no-follow links in a number of ways.

If you've already decided that "no-follow" backlinks are no good to you, then it may not interest you. But if you're a little more open-minded and willing to look again, there are many threads here explaining/discussing interesting things about no-follow links: this one might start you off, and then there's more here, here, here, here, here, and so on.

I get enormous benefits from blog-commenting. It can lead to guest-posting, too, and all sorts of useful and profitable relationship-building - as well as attracting plenty of targeted traffic, if you really add value to others' blogs. The backlinks are just a little extra, for me - including the no-follow ones.

This is where it helps to know your niche -- more specifically your competitors. Are there blogs that you constantly see ranked at the top of the search engines for your keyword? This is a good place to start. Also, you need to make sure your comment is relavent to the topic at hand. Don't just put in generic stuff that could get caught by the spam filter and such.

True enough but in many cases where you have or build a good relationship with the webmaster they will in fact make your links followed. SO its not a matter of ignoring the nofollow tag if your goals are SEO as well. You can utilize them just as well with building relationship link building.

There are two sides of blog commenting.

1. Automated comments using software like Scrapebox. This can get a bit dangerous if you're not careful. So I'd suggest not blasting thousands of blogs with links pointing directly to your site if you're paranoid about getting slapped by the search engines. If you don't go overboard then you're probably fine. But it's up to you.

Automated comments are best used to help index and strengthen existing backlinks. Most auto approve blogs are NoFollow. It is VERY hard to find DoFollow + auto approve posts. (I've spent a ton of time creating my own DoFollow + AA blog list.)

2. Manual blog commenting. Definitely time consuming but also very rewarding. Finding a high PR / DoFollow post from an active blog is like finding gold sometimes. DoFollow blogs are a rarity these days and are usually moderated. Getting a high PR & DoFollow backlink from a moderated blog is pretty powerful. But you have to leave good comments if you expect them to be approved.

1) Looking for (just)Do-Follow blogs isn't useful. Always create backlinks having mixture of no-follow and do-follow. Because it looks natural.

3) Always go for the High pr posts. Google attach a PR to each page to show its importance. Having high PR backlinks will increase your PR too.

4) Always search for the relevant posts. Commenting in your relevant niche is the most important.

My Backlink Building formula:
First of all , find out the number of searches of the specific niche for which you want to do backlinking.
Let say total exact searches are 40,000 per month.
Divide this figure with 30 to find out per day searches.
40,000/30 = 1333

Now divide the answer with 1000, 1333/1000. = 1.3

So creating 1 link a day is great for this niche.

Blog Commenting always takes times but it is the most effective way to gain higher ranking.

no offense mate but forget about blog commenting, focus more on building stronger links... I would suggest maybe joining a few blog networks suck as:

My Article Network
Blogging Underground
Freetrafficsystem
SEODestiny

there is a lot of those around tbh, the will allow you to post articles and then include contextual backlinks which are a lot more powerful SEO wise, also maybe try some bookmarks I've found them to be working very well lately, build high pr linkwheels, wiki links, there is a lot more powerful links you could be building besides blog comments

From what I learnt: Any kind of backlink is still a backlink. So comment all you like!

However, the main gist of blog commenting, at the end of the day is to always provide good value, RIGHT in your comments! So don't just spam rubbish or give short comments. Give real value. People will then recognize you and there's where you achieve the most important thing a blogger can have:

Excellent points. There's everything you said, plus the fact that the lack of a nofollow tag is especially dangerous for people who buy/sell links!

Alexa nails it here. The reason to comment on blogs is to network with others in your niche. This can lead to other marketing and promotional efforts.

You will find, if you leave a good comment, that you will also get a touch of traffic.

However, if you're just chasing links, blog comment is a lower value activity.

Great advice overall in your reply. But I'll have to add that - in my experience - my approval rate is fairly low unless I comment on a recent post first. If it's approved I'll make a comment or two on posts with PR. I guess it can little a little strange commenting on an old post out of the blue. But if you're recognized as someone who has already left a good comment, then your approval rate should be much higher.

I would like to find a backlink tool that is not seo link vine . Last time I checked it was over 147 per month. You better have some real income coming to do so. And posting other blogs, maybe so. It did not work for me.

Use google to find the do follow blogs that are related to your keyword.Blog commenting is not much hard as you are thinking but it consumes a lot of time .

I think you're better off with starting forum threads like this one if you want a better interaction and exposure to your sites; I mean look at this thread, there are lots of warriors who get to see your services and interact directly with you; usually on blogs, the ones that leave comments don't really care about what other people say, they're too much in a hurry to leave a backlink pointing to their site.
