Default Backlinks question from a newbie

I have a site that sits on a subdomain and wondered how that would affect a backlinking strategy in regards to how long it would take Google to index it.

All of the info I've seen so far only relates to regular domains, not subdomains.

Any thoughts?

Sorry if this is an elementary question. I'm new to SEO.

Just make sure the subdomain is indexable (linked to) from the "main domain" (site root), so the search engines can find it. Google will normally index a site within a day or two.

Yeah, from my experience that doesn't matter too much whether it's a sub or main domain.

Still, the think that matters is how you index the website and get backlinks.

What do you mean by "how you index the website and get backlinks"?

It doesn't affect it. Just get some good backlinks and you'll be indexed in no time.

As others have said, no real difference between subdomain and new domain.
