So I keep reading from everyone selling backlinks, that it doesn't matter, or doesn't matter much WHAT webpages are linking to yours. Here's an experience that I've had which seems to prove otherwise. I own the website: noworkspanish.com which I had optimized pretty heavily for keywords: easy way to learn Spanish, learn Spanish audio, learn Spanish CD, easiest way to learn Spanish Now in taking one of the more popular Facebook courses, I created a Facebook fan page: How to Learn Spanish | Facebook -How to Learn Spanish. I created a modest number of backlinks to the Facebook page. It was optimized solely around the keywords "How to Learn Spanish" and voila, within a few weeks, it made it onto page 2 of Google results. On that Facebook page, I link in the Info section to my NoWorkSpanish.com website and about once a week, I'll link to a blog post on NoWorkSpanish. So here is the funny thing. NoWorkSpanish is now ranking well for "How to Learn Spanish", some days it ranks above the Facebook page. NoWorkSpanish is NOT optimized either on-page or off for that phrase. The only explanation is that the content on the page linking to your website DOES matter and quite a bit. I'm curious if others have seen anything similar and if people still want to say that the content of the page you place your backlink on really doesn't matter much, if at all. |
