No ON Page - Scary OFF Page competition

I am trying to make an authority website where I will target keywords that bring about 7 visitors per day.

Been looking into keywords with little traffic, their SEO Competition:
So many come with no ON page SEO (most top 10 do not have the long time keyword on title, URL, description or head), some of the results are amazon pages.

All results are pages (not domains), however their PR varies and sometimes reaches 4, and some results have backlinks of 500 or more to that page.

I wonder if this will be easy to beat since I will have all ON Page SEO set? or their PR and backlinks will stand on my way?

I am looking for keywords that I can easily rank (counting on ON Page SEO Mostly, social media, and a couple of blog comments to each page).

It's very easy to beat them if they don't have no ON-PAGE SEO. But website, which brings only 7 visitors per day is not a good idea. You should go for more. Good luck

I would suggest you to go for Google Keyword Tool and analyze all the relevant keywords which have low competition.Should not target Long tail keyword much. You are done with ON page but Off page is equally important.SO strat building up the links and soon you'll receive traffic.

I would not say its easy to beat them
I think having ONPAGE SEO helps a lot and given both having same backlinks you would definitely win

but I dont think you can just waltz in and put ONPAGE SEO and think ok now I will wait to get to the top spot.

ONPAGE SEO helps, but you will also have to do a lot of backlinking

I would like to suggest you to find low competition and high search volume keywords for your site. Also find keywords in Google Adwords Keyword tool...

Personally , ONPAGE SEO aside

I mean sure I am happy if a site has N N N N for the onpage SEO factors on Market Samurai
but
I look for sites with less than 20 backlinks to the page on the top 3 listings

I also try to find kws where there is a new site less than a year old ranking top 3

I don't really get the point of this. If you are going to make an authority site then why do it in something that gets so little searches, hardly worth the effort. You might as well get a job flipping burgers as it will pay way more (that is unless those visitors convert at 50% and are buying a $100k sports car and you get 10% commission )

I will not be targeting 1 Keyword, instead I will target a large number of keywords that no one has targeted before due to their low search volume. Most high search volume keywords I find have their EMD taken and already have backlinks and all.
