Keywords in top 5 position?

Hello Friends,
I have been working on one of the SEO project from past few months and by working consistently on this I had achieved my first target that is to bring all the keywords on top ten position but now I am focusing to bring these in top 5 position and some of the techniques which I am using are directory submission, social bookmarking, forum posting, blogging, article submission etc., Still by using all these techniques the keywords are not yet stable on their position for example one of the keyword was on position 4 and now it has dropped down to position 7. Please suggest some techniques which can be helpful to bring all the keywords in top 5 positions and make them stable.

What's the competition like? Have you tweaked the On-Page SEO? Is the domain a .com, .net, .org or what? How old is your domain? Is there any content on the website? How have you diversified the backlinks?

These are some of the few questions you'd have to answer to get a definitive reply from someone here.

I would like to tell you,its very difficult to maiantain your position in first page.You need very high quality backlinks to achieve position or stable your website ranking.So analyze your competitors backlinks and try to create high quality backlinks from your competitors. create do follow,high PR and relevant backlinks.

I would have thought quality backlinks would be the answer and build them slowly and manually with some patience you will get there.

if you are doing the work then you will see fluctuations as things are changing. You can bet that the other sites aer also doing SEO so that will also have an impact which is out of your control.

Everybody loves to stay on top and work towards it. All you need to do is..create good good rapot with fellow bloggers and go for "guest blogging" write articles for their blog or invite other bloggers to write on yours and you will get repeated visitors who are genuine visitors and you will certainly love this business. Try it. It is the next step to create traffic.
