Any FREE WP Themes - That are OK to Flip?

hello warriors

I have to use a FREE WP Themes - NO budget for a premium theme
so I can't purchase a developers license. Does anyone one know, what I
need to look for, within a themes information, that lets me know that I can use it for whatever purpose?

I Plan to build sites, on a variety of niches - and sell them.

KEY - Must be Legitimate - I do not want to use "nulled" themes, or anything else that might
be considered BH, or illegal. What must a themes
terms or conditions say, that gives me the "green light?"

I'm trying to find "DEFINITIVE" information - rather than guesses or assumption...

Does anyone know of any them themes that are available "FREE" that
I can build a site on, then sell without fear of any repercussion?
And, what privacy or terms I need to determine, that essentially
tells me whether or not I can sell a site, built on such a theme?

(I have the same question about "Plug-ins," if you're are so inclined)

This is the first i've ever heard of anything like this. As far as I know, if you use a free theme, you can do whatever you want with it. You don't have to buy the rights or permission when you are selling the site. You don't have to ask permission to drastically edit the theme.

All the themes in WordPress › Free WordPress Themes are free and made available under the GPL license (the same one WordPress uses). So you can basically use them for everything.

Other free themes you find on the Internet may have different license and other requirements (like keeping footer links) - you have to check each for their specific terms of use. Apart from that, be sure that the free theme you download (other than from the official WordPress theme directory) doesn't contain encrypted or malicious code (many do). You can use the TAC plugin to see if there's any obfuscated code in the theme files.

In the absence of any other feedback, I believe I should assume you two are correct. Unless any one has any info to the contrary?

Technically Kokopelli's answer is the "exact" right one. Free themes on other sites may not be freely redistributed, you'd have to read their license.

If you choose to go with a premium theme, you could do ClickBump for $17, create sites, and then include a sale of the base theme as part of your flip. You do not need to have a developers license up front. If you need to verify that, just ask Scott (ClickBump) I asked him that exact question a few months ago.
