If I wanted to put up a quick micro site, would is the difference between buying a .info and using blogger in terms of functionality? I know that blogger is owned by Google, free hosting, etc and is insecure in that you don't necessarily own the site. However, it's not like it's a common thing for Google to be shutting down Blogger sites just because... Wouldn't it be better to just create a site on Blogger if you are simply going for steady income from it and not necessarily to sell it one day? Is there any limitation in terms of functionality for a blogger site? I've never used blogger before so I'm wondering if trying to rank and monetize the site with adsense is the same as doing so on your own url and hosted site. |

Blogger? Those are good for backlinks I would not use them for a money site because 1. you do not have total control of the site 2, you have to play by their rules 3. you cant sell the blog 4. they "could" delete your blog at any time they own your blog not you Always use a domain you own for a money site |

Just use both, but keep the .info as your primary and try link each others.

It's not even a question. Use your own domain. |

Use your own domain. If you can but a .com that would be much better than a .info And blogger is usually only used as a second-tier domain to support your first-tier ones |

Technically, for $10 you can buy a domain name and apply it to your Blogger site, but if you are going to do that why wouldn't you just put it on Hostgator, or even a free hosting service? Then ask yourself this question...how many xxxx.blogspot.com sites have you seen listed on the front page of Google lately? Not that you cannot do it, but I sure don't run into them in ANY of my keyword research in my niches. I do run into plenty of .com, .net, .org, .info, .co, .me, .tv etc....but cannot remember the last Blogger site I ran into on the first page without intentionally searching for blogger blogs. So, functionality wise...They can both host words, pictures, and embedded video perfectly fine. It is just that one platform gives you far more flexibility and appears to make it easier to rank. (Of course there is that ownership thing....but you asked about functionality, not ownership.) Barry | |
