Ranking without a backlink....

Can someone explain me a thing?

When I am getting more than 1000 backlinks for my site from Yahoo, why am I not getting any backlink from Google. Am I mistaking something?

My site is also ranking in google its on the third page for 4-5 keywords, without any Google backlinks.....

My question is:- Does the google backlinks show? Or There are no Google Backlinks on my site and still my site is ranking on google?

Have you checked your backlinks in Webmaster Tools? Using the link: operator won't show much or any backlinks. Also Webmaster Tools doesn't show the whole picture either. They do this on purpose.

Cheked it... Even checked in the Google Webmasters, there is just shows one of my own domain linked to the website.

One question these 1000 backlinks are from yahoo domains or some other domains. If these 1000 backlinks are from different domains then surly google will index these backlinks. You have to check through google webmaster tool. Google and yahoo both index the backlinks and show the backlinks so no problem of getting backlinks from google or yahoo...

Well third page isn't much of a feat ..even with moderate keywords.
So just chalk it up to that.

Google does not show all backlinks openly. Although it does have a search operator to check backlinks, it never will show all of them.
The most common explanation for this was the fact that Google wanted to protect its backlink data, in order to make it difficult for seos who could try to reverse engineer the backlinks part of Google’s search algorithm. But that doesn't mean that Google doesn't count them. It does. It's just not a reliable source to check your backlinks.

All are not from Yahoo domains but there are some, all the backlinks that I have seen are mixed up from different sources.

Not just due to the backlinks but for the rank lot of factors matter and in prior the quality content and second traffic for that content. So may be though not having the backlinks but due to the useful and new information you have get the better rank. But check the backlinks again through the google analytics so you can know the perfect result.

Google may not display all the results or may ignore some sites.

Now majority of the search engines have shifted their focus to content than backlinks hence your website was able to get higher ranking without directory submission.

"backlinks from Yahoo" I'm sure you meant the number of backlinks that the Yahoo backlink tool shows you? And as for the number of backlinks counted by Google, how did you check these? Did you use the Google Webmaster Central or did you check using a search operator?

Google won't show whole backlink in SERP. If you need to check total backlinks for your website, you must register your site in Google Webmaster Tools.
