Remove Title? in Wordpress Header image?

I dont want the title to paste over my header image. This particular theme does that.

Any way to make it not do that other than selecting a different theme

I have found some websites giving instructions on how to change the header.php file

so far whenever I make ANY changes to this file, it gives error message , doesnt work
just shows a white page, so I have to go back in and undo all the changes
