Does anyone know of a really good old-style keyword research tutorial? By old-style I mean not using Market Samurai or other expencive tools, but doing it with Google Adwords and Excel worksheets.

Semrush seems quite interesting. Only, the free version is quite limited, showing only the top of the list. | |

Old style? Not using MS etc? Sure go to google and just use something cheap like SEO quake. You will spend 30 times as long analyzing the top 10 competition that way , but hey free is never free guess you dont value your time much. If kw research takes you longer isnt time money? |

First is you should list some possible keywords for your own products or services. Then try to all the related searches which you can see below the google page ends. Next you can also use google keyword research tool online for free. And the last is check the websites of your top competitors.

It always kind of baffles me the guys who think you can spend ZERO money on kw research tools and have that be a viable business model any business costs SOME money to start, and KW research is the MOST IMPORTANT part of the business if you are going to be cheap and save money dont scrimp on not having any paid kw search tools. 90 percent of the board uses paid version of Market Samurai. We dont shell out almost 100 dollars if we think we could get the same thing for free. we are not stupid We realize time is money and MS saves so much time on kw research that it is more than worth the cost. You make back that 100 bucks 1000 times over in time saved, and good kws found |

| Try out the Market Samurai official keyword research tutorials, they were pretty helpful when I was just starting out. Also, browsing through this forum helps a lot.
