Hey! SEO guys, I have a question about backlinks

I've just read a WSO that tell me THE BEST backlink is Social Bookmark. Is that real? I knew that social bookmarking is a good way to make lot of backlinks but I've never expected them to be the best.
I want to know your opinions. What do you think?

I don't agree with that assessment. In-content links from PR pages are better, especially if thematically related.

Well, I think it all depends on how you implement your whole system. Imo, there are backlinks worth more than the other of course but in the end, you're going to need a diverse set of links. I also haven't touched too much of social bookmarking and I'm doing fine.. Only way for you to find out really is to test it! haha

Social bookmarks are definitely not the best backlinks out there, the best backlinks are contextual links coming from within high-quality unique content that provides value and is relevant to the topic of the site you are linking to. Preferrably a high-PR is good, but it's not essential.

Agreed. The best links are those on relevant high authority sites, I recommend using OSE, Linkdex or Majestic to do some analysis.

This is 100% not true. Unless of course Facebook or Linkedin gave you a nice link pack from their home page which is not going to happen! High PR pages are the best links that you can get. If you get high PR links on pages that are relevant to your site and content then your heading in the right direction.

Social bookmarking is effective but it doesnot mean that this is the best SEO method.Every techniques are equally important on SEO for the better performance.

I definitely disagree. Social bookmarks are NOT the best type of link to get. Also, too many people search for that ONE type of link they think will make the difference. The fact is, you need a varied link profile of many different types of links to succeed for the long term.

There isnt a Best, they are all good. someone saying that social bookmarking is the best probably has no idea what they are talking about, WSO or not.

Social bookmarking is Best if you have something interesting and informative to share with the world. If it is really interesting and has something to offer value it will have more likes or favs or diggs etc. and roll the on to may be to the home page of the social site. This result in the more than expected traffic to the target website.

If you are considering the bookmarking as a back link then it is just a waste of time and energy. The best back link comes from the Best Quality Niche website's content only, rest all are better or good only even if they belong to same niche.

I wouldn't say they are the most powerful, although i have found them to be working well recently but thats a different matter, the most powerful in my opinion are contextual high PR links on sites that are relevant to your niche, these are sometimes hard to come by it depends entirely on your sites niche

There is no "best" type of backlink. However, some backlinks are better than others (eg: dofollow backlinks on sites that have a high PR and have your targeted keywords in the URL vs. nofollow backlinks on a site with a PR of 0). It is important to have a diversified backlink profile, which makes things look more natural to Google.
