Question about syndicated article content and subsequent edit of existing site.

I have recently been submitting articles to various article directories, most of which are shortened versions of existing verbiage on my webpages which have been indexed for a long time.

Without triggering a major debate on duplicate versus syndicated content, which has been explained many times in spite of what seems to be the vast majority still not knowing the difference and insisting that articles are viewed as duplicate content - when we know that they aren't - I would appreciate some help from the successful experienced article writers if you have the time please. I don't spin articles generally, for the reasons explained by the experts on this in WF. This is the situation.

I have some decently-ranking webpages on my site.
They were indexed over a year ago.
I decided to start publishing articles to directories this month. The content of these articles was drawn from relevant pages on my money site just about word for word with a few alterations to comply with a few of the article directories TOS.
Most of the articles have been published and indexed within 10 days by the articles directories.

My question is, if I now add content to my original web page, after the articles have been published and indexed, would my money site page still be viewed by the search engines/etc as the original source, and not suffer? Or would it be looked at as "fresh" because of the added new content and upload dates? The main content has not been changed, just added to.

Anyone? Sorry for the bump, I just need to get the work done, it's a product change and I'm reluctant to change the page content if it is going to cause damage.
