I had a new site that was ranked on the third page of Google until I ran a backlinking software prgram that signed up the site with tons of directories. A couple of hours later I noticed no more traffic and when I checked the next day; boom no more site....did I do something for them to slap me by running the software? The strange thing is the google adsense account says the adsense is still active...how do you know if that is what happened and how do you communicate with Google or can you? Any insight would be appreciated...Michael |

Try a search in google for site:mydomain.com If it returns results you have just been penalized, probably for the link blast, and your site will come back in time. If there are no results then you have been deindexed. In that situation, flip the site onto a new domain and start again. Peter |

Sound like the Google dance. Just continue to build backlinks to your site. It will be back up eventually.

Peter; Thanks. I guess I just got penalized as it still shows up. I wish the software guy could have told me that might happen. Anyway, any idea how long it may take to come back and should I still build backlinks in a slower fashion or just lay off for awhile? Lmk. Thanks for your help. From your forum name you sound like a backlink specialist. Michael |

This is actually very common. Perhaps not in the past but these day's if Google even consider's that you might be spamming back-link's they can your site faster than the speed of light.

It is possible; it happened to me....after I sent out those backlinks it was about two hours later and that traffic clicker stopped, that was it; done. And then when I checked the next morning the site was gone....and I checked all the way back ten pages...nothing....I won't make this mistake again....mm

I'd keep building links but slowly. The number of links and their profile should look natural. Without wishing to give my new blog an unduly gratuitous plug, your problem prompted me to post on this very subject...see my sig. ![]() As for when it will come back, that is anyone's guess, I'm afraid, but it shouldn't be too long if you do not make the same mistake again. Avoid these 'link blasts' like the plague, old chap! Good luck! Peter | |
