Default SEO for my new site

Hello. I have a new website. I really have no idea how to approach getting my website at the top, or near the top, of the google results pages. Could you please point me in the right direction as to who I could call or hire? Where do I begin? Is there a well respected company or person that I could contact? Thank you.

I wouldn't hire anybody. I am experienced in SEO and whenever I hire someone, my rankings drop. Most companies and so-called professional SEO people use very spammy type of links. They basically don't get counted and can be expensive. I know there are many people on here who will tell you differently, but this is my honest experience.

Really what you need to do is create a variety of links from different places. I'm assuming that you at least understand what anchor text is and what keywords you are going for. But basically, you create a variety of links from web 2.0 properties like squidoo, quizilla and hubpages, posting comments to blogs and forums (making an anchor text signature link in your profile), writing a few articles to be published on ezine articles and/or articlesbase, publish a few press releases to be submitted to press release sites, and lots of social bookmarks for your site.

You can find some places to post quickly using the tool on this page: Get Links to Your Site | The Internet Marketing Spy

This is a very basic run down, but it is the main idea of what you are looking for. You can find out much more information on this here on the boards of the WF. Many of the WSOs I've read are full of affiliate links and don't really add too much more to the conversation. There are even free ones in the War Room that are better.

packerfan is right. Be careful who you listen to. There are a lot of well meaning people who will unfortunately steer you wrong.

Best of luck,
Adrienne

If you're new to SEO, I would highly recommend hiring a SEO provider. I just feel it's not good use of your time to mire yourself in learning SEO, SEO tools, and then the countless hours of testing to get things right based on your sites.

With that said, I would not recommend SEO providers on this forum. I would go to WF or BHW and pick providers based on reviews.

Search engine optimization is a difficult task to perform, start with on-page optimization. In which you only need to optimize the website feel and look and also some key html tags. After that start off-page optimization in which you need to get good numbers of backlinks...

how difficult it is just depends on how competitive your keyword is.and the first thing you need to do is just study your keyords, plz make a list, dont let it stay just in your mind. Then, start running a blog, what you need to do is just update it with good quality articles.keep doing that for a month and repost a next-step post in this forum

It's really hard to find a good SEO company. Most of them promote your site with one article posted on dozens of sites (but it's the same one) or they use the same anchor text for every single link.

Gdiddy, what kind of a site do you own?

The best way is to hire someone who can show you good results and move on. Asking questions doesn't solve until you work yourselves on SEO.

First research a keyword for you websites. Write a unique title tag, meta description, and meta keyword. Check H1, H2, H3 tags of your websites. Upload you sites with these changes.

After doing these do some link building activities like forum, social bookmarking, articles submission, directory submission etc. I hope you can understand. Just do these you never have to hire anyone for SEO.

I agree. And it's so difficult to compare one SEO consultant with another unless you already have a lot of knowledge about SEO. It's no wonder there are a lot of rip-off merchants out there.

It's actually a very tough question to answer, whether to hire companies or ask experts to do SEO jobs for you or yourself begin to work on your site to rank well because lots of factors are playing key roles in this connection. For example, when your site went live online because domain age can be one issue, how much information you have about the niche in which your domain has been activated because contents and on-page optimization would be the keys.

Some webmasters launch their sites and since they do not have information about their targeted niches, so they would hire services of copywriters because their sites need to have contents to tank well, especially in competitive niches. If your market is very tough and already targeted by thousands of sites, you may consider to contact companies or exchange views with expert freelancers. Links will be the next issue and for all niches and markets, they would be required always.

Its not big question I think Google have made it easy to understand all aspects of SEO just follow Google SEO tutorial and see the post apply them on your new site. And if you think its not easy to spend time then hire a company how can give you more insight on that. Anyway you must follow white Hat SEO for gaining long terms benefits for your own website

I think you should read about SEO first.SEO is time consuming task and need to devote lot of time to find quality backlinks. So it would be better if you can hire professional seo experts who can implement SEO on your website in a professional manner.
Thanks

What are you trying to say?

Yes, when it comes to SEO, you have to use anchor text, and almost the anchor text with MAIN target keyword will be used many times to get top for that keyword, and the rest of the anchor texts go along with sub-keywords(secondary keywords) - That is usual way, everyone does it.

Again, yes, there is no harm on submitting same well-written, original articles to blogs or article directories or etc - All are being done is to get backlinks and get top on Google.

It is not hard to find SEO Company, Google is source to find better one as same as for other things, There are reviews, testimonials and etc which can be read and can select the perfect SEO company....

Yes, I do agree there are SEO companies/experts who call themselves as EXPERT but there really do not handle the things in professional or as EXPERTS. But, it is not good to blame other real SEO Professional guys....
