What is the perfect keyword density for perfect on-page optimization?

There really is no perfect keyword density. I usually have my writers shoot for around 3-4%, but if it's a little over or a little under, I really don't care. Of course on-page SEO is important, but what's more important in ranking is the backlinks.

| 7-8%? I still wouldn't worry about it. If you're moving up the ranks of the first page, I doubt the search engines are placing any penalty on your site. If you've been stuck at 6th for a while, now you probably just need some high PR links to give your site that extra boost.
