Noob question on my game site, how do i SEO it?

Hey guys, I've been reading these forums for a while now, and finally decided to make an account

I made a website ( cooltoplists.com ) around 2 months ago (sry bout the title, not a game site lol originally wanted to ask help on my other site which is doing even worse). It's basically a site that has different top lists from a variety of topics.

At first a lot of the content on my site were copied from other sites, or simply lists. I've cleaned up most of those posts after reading about the importance of content from WF forums and i have been writing content to my newer posts. Some of my competitor sites (like ebizmba.com) is able to rank very high in some keywords even though that site doesn't have a 500+ word article in each post. so i was wondering if i'm missing something? or is there anything i can do to rank my site better?

any help and advice is appreciated! It's a bit discouraging to see around 10-20 visitors a day after over 2 months of work lol, if there's anything i can do please let me know so i can improve it!

are you familiar with onpage seo, metatitles, metakws, metadescription, img alt tags and kw density? all these are important to make a site rank
Ranking a site also demands links pointing to it, so is much more than a 500 article on any topic you need. Also the fact that a site is new affects rankings, and you would need a bit of more effort to outrank y competitors

Original content is your bread and butter. Once you have many, great High PR backlinks and the SEO will start to take off. Keep the information and lists up to date! Down the line make an e-mail list so that you can send them updated top 10's.

thanks for the reply, I have been focusing on the meta elements you listed (metatitle, description, keywords, etc) but haven't really focused on the naming of the pictures. I will go over the pictures on my site and make sure it's named correctly

I purchased gyuman's backlink service yesterday, i'm hoping it'll help my ranking lol, when i first started making my site ( it was a game site), i put in a lot of effort writing 750 word articles for article and PR submissions, i didn't even end up seeing any link from these so i stopped. i think i'll give it another try at creating back links tho

hey Truth, thanks for the reply! Yeah I'm really starting to put my faith into good content. I'll write a few more articles today! (feeling more motivated now lol) and hopefully with some backlinking i'll be able to get viewers that like my content! thanks for the tip. I just found a plugin that makes an email list from the commenters so i'll start using that too!

To get rank higher in Google, you need 2 things:
1. On-page SEO: optimize your website (title, decription, tags, etc) with your targeted keyword
2. Off-page SEO/ backlinking: link your website with other people website

Steps to do it:

2. Optimize/ fill your website and content with that keyword (On Page SEO)
3. Put your website's link on other people website (Off Page SEO/ backlinking). example: you put your links on your FB page.

In order to get higher position in Google and defeat other website: you need quality Backlink
The more quality your backlink, the more higher your website will be.

The highest quality of backlink is EDU/ Gov backlink. If you have this type of backlink, you will get easily on 1st page of Google.

Tips: To get EDU/ Gove backlinks you could outsource it. It will not very expensive and your website will get higher rank in no time.

1) All of the above (backlinks, etc...)

2) I like to combine organic SEO with proactive SEO - driving immediate traffic while waiting for Google to catch up with my inbound links and onpage SEO.

To do that:
1) Create a YouTube channel and create reviews. Keyword the TITLE, the Description. Add an HTTP link to the very first part of the description. YOu can also add another 5-6 links within the Description (not spammy - create a short descriptive paragraph, then add the link to lead to that video or page on your site).

2) Press Releases still rock. Use PressReleasePivot.com or PressReleaseNation.com and upgrade as you have resources. We get from 5,00- to 14,000 mentions in Google for each release we distribute.

3) Actively blog. Really. Use Trackbacks as much as possible to leverage your replies on posts. I get more juice from effectively adding to the dialog on quality blogs then almost any other method.

4) Don't be afraid to solicit your industry forums and buy ad space there. One of our clients generates 200-350 leads a month from one $100/mo banner ad on an industry forum.
