Default Why I Quit Building MICRO-Niche Adsense Sites

Why am I quitting Adsense microniche sites? The ROI SUCKS!

Let's say it costs me a $100 to outsource the building of an Adsense site and the link building, there's a tiinny chance that this site will be a winner, in which case I recoup my costs for the other 10 sites I built that bombed.

There are also waaay to many moving parts and crap to juggle. You need to use a tool like ManageWP (awesome tool btw) just to keep organized.

Most of my microniche sites earn me an average of $50/month. Not bad you say...but my absolute WORST affiliate sites earn me that much with a fraction of the traffic, less work and no worries about a manual account review from Google. And the WINNERS among your affiliate sites simply BANK for you over and over.

However, I still do build authority sites that do well, just not feeling the microniche model any more.

Anybody else find juggling all the microniche parts, spreadsheets, etc. too daunting?

Haven't touched my micro-niche adsense sites for many months now and am still making a few hundred a month. If done right, micro-niche sites are still a good bet.

Personally I've never found the micro niche "business" to be working good. If you are lucky - there is some chance to obtain money quickly. But the whole process is boring, especially if you don't like your niche.

Currently I am building a niche website that is interesting to me. At the same time I am improving my SEO skills. It is not about the money that this website perhaps would make. I am doing it cuz I like it So basically I agree with you.

The strongest side of the freelancing is that you are controlled by your inspiration.

Hi vtotheyouknow,

While I am not a proponent of the microniche concept, I have to ask, why are you doing it the hard way?

You don't need ManageWP when most of those capabilities are already built into the basic Wordpress script. You just need to configure it for multisite mode when you set it up. You can have all your microniche websites running from a single install. Download the free Windows Live Writer and along with WP configured for multisite you have a much simpler and better solution that is totally free. You can run a thousand websites from a single WP script install.

I'm letting 2 sites go. I only have a handful that I love, have an interest in,
and can do everything hands-on myself. If more people took this approach,
they may be happier and more successful. Maybe that's why I was not hurt
much with panda. My sites were already building content and authority.

Oh, and that there's no shame in cutting stuff that just does not
do anything for you.

I had the opposite experience. I had to cut an affiliate site I
nurtured for 5 years. Kept telling myself, one day, baby, one
day....but...no. Very cathartic to finally put the beast down.

when you guys say Adsense Minisites do you mean 5 page minisites with EMD?

How are you going to install WP only one time for multiple domains?

You can create thousands of sites with one install of Wordpress.
Create A Network « WordPress Codex

You point as many domains as you want at whichever sites you have setup using this domain mapping plugin: WordPress › WordPress MU Domain Mapping « WordPress Plugins

I've noticed that microniche sites just aren't worth the effort anymore. I'm leaning away from them as well and just trying to build sites that are a little more middle ground.

I don't want to create large authority sites so I'm creating sites that offer good content, in relatively small niches.

"TAKE ACTION" is the first thing everyone tells you and then they leave it at that. I'll add a second part: TRACK EVERYTHING" - It's the only way to ensure your ACTION leads to results.

Not exactly, WP mu was a separate version of WP, but multisite is and has been part of the base WP script since version 3.0 was released.

The plugin I mentioned above allows you to point any primary domain (not subdomain) at any of your sites in your network. Which is exactly what most people are looking for.
