This is a topic I've been thinking about today. I've been reading Yaro Starak's free book "Blog Profits Blueprint," in which blog carnivals are mentioned as a potential source of traffic. I went on Youtube and watched this instructional video about submitting blogs to carnivals at blogcarnivals.com. The person who posted the video did a screencap of him using the site, and I noticed that on the list of blog carnivals, there seemed to be a new carnival happening every day. This was in 2008. Anyway, I visited the site today, and I noticed that barely any carnivals were still active, and that most had had their last carnival more than 2 years ago. So, am I wrong, or is this method of traffic building dead? |

I know that Chris the Traffic Blogger is still using them. In fact he has had some decent success with them. He seems to do all of the coordinating himself and hosts the events on his sites. |

I've checked Blog Carnivals out after reading about their potential as a traffic source sometime back and I second what you thought. BlogCarnival.com looks and seems pretty lame to me. I don't know if Blog Carnivals are completely dead, but they don't interest me very much or seem to hold much value. |

I think blog carnivals (aka "web rings" in the late 90s, "AOL Guided Tours" in the mid 90s) went out of style before blogcarnival . com... I doubt you'll find one for those topics with any decent sites in it.
