SEO-hosting and WP multi-site/multi-user

Hey there,

is it ok to use WP MU/multi-site if I want my sites to appear completely independent?

I'm using SEO hosting, currently with individually installed WP installs (read: pain in the backside to maintain).

I'm thinking of using WP multi-site, and use the domain-mapping to map the domain to the subdomain/subdirectory on the 'main' domain.

However, does this 'redirecting' negate the effects of having SEO hosting?
(as in: does Google then 'know' that all the sites are part of one network?)
