Default Advise On Domain Name

Hi
Hoping someone can offer some advise.

I am trying to get a website with my keyword in the title. Problem is any names I can come up with that have a minimum of 1000 exact global monthly searches are already taken and I have tried hundreds of variations.

As an example:
(using ABC as my keyword this domain name is taken http://www.ABC.com as an example)

My question is can I use http://www.ABCSHOP.com and still rank for having ABC in the title of the domain.

The problem is of course that there are zero searches for ABCSHOP

I have tried using stop words and letters in the past and to be honest I found that I could rank 1st on page one for fredz.com but for freds.com nowhere to be found so I am a bit reluctant to go there again.

I don't want to spend months on SEO for a site that is going to get no traffic.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Allan

Have you tried seeing if there is availability for a domain if you ad a - between the words?

Like
a-b-c.com
abc-shop.com

That is an option you could try.

Try getting abcreviews, buyabc, getabc, etc and you still have a keyword rich domain that should be able to rank easily for your primary keywords

My suggestion, stop trying to get an EMD. It seems like it's wasting time and keeping you from doing the one thing that's important: making money with a website. If you can't get your keyword in the domain, then just get a good domain that matches your niche and start working.

Try different version like
ab-c.com
a-bc.dom and any other variation. If you not able to get your desired domain then choose domain according to your niche and start working on it. Upload your site with unique and fresh content.

There is so much more to deal with than just having a keyword in your domain name. So forgetting about content and all the other stuff needed to rank higher in the serps let's just answer your exact question.

I have seen much debate over this but with my real world testing it works like this for me. For "Acne Cure" I would go this way. keyword no hyphens first then keyword (only one hyphen) second.

1. acnecure.Com
2. acnecure.Org
3. acnecure.Net
4. acne-cure.Com (only one hyphen)
5. acne-cure.Org (only one hyphen)
6. acne-cure.Net (only one hyphen)

Beyond this move to a longer tail keyword phrase and see what monthly searches it may have.

(Example) "acne cure" has 5,000 searches LOW competition BUT acrecure.Com and all the good domains are taken so you do a search on "acne cure help" which has 3,000 searches an NO competition and the domain name acnecurehelp.Com is available so you purchase it and build off of that keyword domain. Your website receives higher ranking in the keyword "acne cure help" because of the exact name domain plus it has NO competition AND you may receive ranking for the keyword "acne cure" because it is still located inside the longer tail keyword phrase.

More than one hyphen will actually hurt your rankings. Unless you find a keyword domain that has tens of thousands of searches and low to no comp then i would be willing to put 2 hyphens in a domain. I have tried and don't do that bad at all. But again, a keyword domain name is only a sliver of what you can do BUT the serps have many more hoops for you to jump through. The keyword domain name philosophy is used only for those who use that type of business model. Which i do and it does work!

I only search for domain name keywords with global monthlys as low as 5,000. I have other requirements that i look for but anything less then 5K I actually move to another niche in my market or find a longer tail keyword phrase. If you are having to look for a keyword domain name beyond number 6 (as described above) and you are only getting 1000 monthly searches then the keyword domain name isn't going to do you any good. Move on to another niche in your primary market or research better keyword phases that have more monthly searches as i stated above. You will be surprised what you find.

More on domain name extensions:

For .Us, .Biz, .Me, Ws, .Mobi (i never use them anymore I only use .com, .org, and .net)

For .Info (aged .infos work better than .biz and .me's and are cheap if on a budget less than $2.00 at Godaddy)

For .Co ( I hate them...Have had the worst luck so i am not paying $30 per domain name for them anymore)

Hope this helps - Pete

I haven't messed with those .co's in sometime because they didn't work for my business model. I didn't see any benefit for the cost of the domain. Maybe the .co's are getting some google love?

Ppetri's finding are similar to mine. But in all honesty, dont beat yourself up about getting an EMD. If you can't find the exact keyword you are looking for broaden your topic a bit and go for more of an authority style website. An EMD is just a small part of the puzzle, and you are better off spending that time building content and back links.

Having the right domain name is only one aspect of a site well-optimized for the search engines.

I think you should rank for your ABC keyword with the mentioned domain name, provided your on-page and off-page SEO is good. It may take some time though, especially if your competitors' websites are established well and their domain have a history in the SERPs.

Its been my experience that the difference between domain names is truly not all that important. For example...

Buy-ebook.com
buyebook.com
buy-a-ebook.com

WILL rank more easily for there EXACT searches. But not noticeably so. Google is still smart enough to recognize each of those domains is relevant to the other. Good SEO will have you outranking exact match domains every time.

I suggest you look up "Seo Stop words" for an idea on that.

HI
Domain name decision is best thing to start a domain.
Here is some points
1) Use very unique name which must be readable and easy to use vocal or written
2) very short and very long name is also not useful
3) Add some organization name with domain or any specific quality name with keyword which can help you in promotion
4) Keyword is really not important but - if the word is unique and you add this word with specific keyword then its can help.
5) You also can use geographic place with that keyword like - abcinusa.com like that
6) Do not use Google stop words or google poison words. For this you need to google. You found many these type words
7) I prefer to choose 11 -14 words length domain name which makes really good and prefect name of domain.

Hope so its help you !

Thank you !
