Generally you get what you pay for, I wouldn't bother with the free press release sites if you're looking to have any material impact on your site, they're spammed to death with a lot of crap, the real news sites you have to pay to get on....

Get the $20 package from webwire .com Using free services are a waste of time in most cases. You can get tons of syndication for $20. I've never submitted a press release that didn't directly pay for itself with the traffic it generated, regardless of the value of the backlinks. Which makes me question why I don't submit a lot more press releases! |

prlog.org is the best for free PR If you go paid, search for the press releases of your competitors or the big guys in your niche. There are niche-specific press release/news websites out there that can deliver more targeted results than a general/all topics website. For example, Hottest Anime News & Rumors | AnimeShinbun (for all things anime) It's a non-traditional news website that you can publish your news on in a digg-like way. |

If you can do paid, hit up PRWeb's $200 package so you can set your anchor text. Normally ends well whenever I do it.

I have always used PRlog to backlink to new posts on my blog as part of a strategy which both creates traffic and creates backlinks. Worth a try.
