An article I wrote for a particular niche (Submitted to eza) was syndicated on a site and now received around 150 visitors within a few hours... ![]() I originally submitted the article on my site, waited till it was indexed by google, then submitted it to EZA. Now that article ranks number 3 in google for the keyword I was targeting while my site ranks number 4. Not complaining...just have a new idea... If this authority site that picked up my site can rank above mine simply by syndicating content (they didn't include an intro paragraph or anything to make it unique) what's from stopping me from building an authority site and finding high quality articles to syndicate? Sure I could include a few unique articles, but make many articles simply syndicated. I'm sure that the site ranked above mine because it is an authority site with very high quality links. BUT if I built high quality links and used (for this example) 100% syndicated content from EZA (Very high quality content, of course), would my site suffer duplicate content penalties? Would I need a ratio of unique/syndicated articles? |

Just give it some time, the same thing has happened to me a few times where my Ezine article outranks my page, it usually takes a week or so and google figures it out and the article is counted as a banklink and taken off the SERP and will boost your page.

As you already pointed out...usually this means that Google trusts the site ranking higher more...happens all of the time. Focus on building high quality links to your site and boost its trust rank. Ultimately, in the future, the results should flip-flop. With respect to your last question, unique content is always a good idea. It never hurts. |

This seems a bit too simple for everyone and so they come up with explanations that seem... well, unnatural. EZA has authority because it has natural SEO and it is old. So it has a huge community pushing its SEO. However, you probably are not linking to your original article from the EZA page, contextually linking it for the keyword you are trying to rank it for. I am almost positive this would make you rank higher than the EZA page. However if you are linking to your article page from the EZA page with the contextual link you are trying to rank it for and it is not higher it is only a matter of time before Google sees this and corrects it... that is unless you SEO is horrible because competing with EZA's naturally created SEO for that keyword should not be very hard. There may be times where this is not the case however I have not ran into it yet. |
