Default How do you map site SEO progress (namely google)

Hi,

How are you guys monitoring your rank within Google. I currently have a new site which is not in the first thousand pages for my target keyword, so a majority of tools seem of no value just yet.

Is there any (free hopefully!) tools which grapth or map your sites progression or demise?

Also if not being to cheeky another add-on question: Is there anything the same for alexa?

Thanks,
Luke

I don't want to self promote our product but rank tracking is the 2nd best way (the best being your traffic) to chart your progress. Obviously there's also conversions and that's a great way as well, but until you have either of those - rank tracking is the way to go.

I wouldn't mess with a checker for Alexa, it won't really do you any good to keep checking it - just go off of progress itself, whichever form you chose to follow.

You can try the free rank checker from SEO Book.

Perhaps an attic I shall seek.

Your welcome to post about your own product in this thread Bofu2U, you put time and effort in and I asked a question relevant to your product, so its only right you should get a plug.

However, for this time I am looking for free tools - mainly as I am still a noob and have no income as yet to get into buying lots of tools. I do hope to one day (so I have bookmarked your page), but not there yet.

Grab the free version of Traffic Travis. It allows you to track a whole bunch of keywords for your sites and their rankings in Google, Bing and Yahoo.

With a new website like that you should really be getting to know your Google Webmaster Tools. You should watch in there to make sure Google is picking up on your keywords and that your search query volume is rising.

A lot of SEO stuff may lead you to the top pages. But 1st of all you should not choose such a large competative keywords for your site. This may put you on a big competition.
