Hi Warriors, Ok you have probably seen the emails come into your inbox because I get them all the time. Its only since I've started doing SEO that I have taken notice to them and not just hit delete them. Let me copy and paste the email I just got. And by the way I get a lot of the same emails from other to... My name is Abigail Cox and I was wondering if you are interested in exchange links, I'll place your link on my site exactly here: ec3consulting(dot)net PR3 accountingtracy(dot)com PR2 If you agree please send me your site details: Title: Url: IŽll place your link in less than 24 hours, then I'll send you an email with my info. Regards If you don't want to receive more mails just reply with "unsubscribe". So what do you think? Is it worth replying and exchanging links? I would like a professional opinion please. I got those and it was fine. I did the link exchange and found my link on their site. I checked the PR of their site and it was just as they stated. I have no idea how they got my email but they did so you can try it out.

Yes I did try it out and I did see my link on there sites. I just had to give them a link. I was just worried incase it hurt my SEO. But I guess it cant do any harm. If its a good way to do SEO we should find out what they are doing? Its obviously spam but I bet they get a lot of backlinks doing deals like this if they email the right people. |

| 2 way Link exchanges leaves a discernible footprint. 3 way links are far more valuable i.e. 3 sites - site A, site B and site C where A links to B, B links to C, and C links to A (A→B→C→A)

I'm not saying this will happen to you, I'm just trying to make you aware of the reality of these "type" of link exchanges. | |

I already tried. Mostly they will place your link. But they post hundreds of links with adult sites links too. That will hurt our site. stay away from them. |

It is just spamming and link farming. Both of which will get you the slap at some point. Probably sooner rather than later.

These are spam emails which are sent to thousands of email accounts on a daily basis and you are recommended to delete them even unread. Some of them might even contain attachments which would serious look like threats as they can contain viruses or Trojans. The interesting point is that they simply are using anonymous email accounts and when you click on their links, you will not actually arrive on their sites as they simply do not exist and they try to gather addresses. The more email accounts addresses they have, the more spam letters will be sent to them also. If you send them a reply or click on the unsubscribe button which naturally is a trap to find active emails of the users, your inbox will be filled with more such advertisements because they will know that someone will be receiving the messages. Ignoring such mails would be the best policy and if you need to use SEO products, get in touch with reputable companies individually. |

It's not necessarily spam. Many SEO companies find suitable websites to link from and then send the webmaster a mail soliciting links in this way. They can get your address from your site, or your WHOIS. It may be a mahoosive con, but as you would with any company with whom you do business, carry out some background research. I've both ignored and responded to such mails and I've never been virused-up or mail-bombed so I don't think you need to worry, but unless you're desperate for a link exchange ignore em. Or tell them you'll do it for xxx amount of cash. |

With the time it took you to open one email, read it 3x, come here to open a thread, discuss it, think about it, and then take a decision, you could have: Buy a new domain name related to your niche, install WP, create 2 new pages, create 2 links in each page to one of your best sites. Voila, your very own link exchange. 15-25 minutes tops. Probably the same time you took to get here. |
