Default How does BMR work if links drop off the front page?

Why/how does BMR work effectively at getting pages to the top of Google when the posts (with your links) that you make to the high PR blogs eventually fall off the front page (the page with the PR)? Maybe I'm missing something, but I just don't see how it can work effectively. Aren't permanent homepage links more effective and a better use of one's money?

Permanent homepage links are more effective but you don't get those for the prices you pay for blog networks.

BMR is better than most blog networks IMHO because they build back links to your posts so even though it drops off the front page, at least the post has a few links going to it. Better than having none.

Hmm, interesting, thanks Lee. I didn't know they build some backlinks to your posts. And people seem to swear by it, so maybe I'll give it a try.

Think of the web, of how it is naturally

In the real world, on REAL blogs ..posts fall off the homepage all the time. Does that make them less important to Google?

While they get trust rank and link juices from the homepage while they are there, that link or trust doesn't disappear entirely when it leaves the homepage. The post maybe categorised and placed in the date archives, those categories and/or date archives are linked to the homepage directly and in-directly in a tree link structure.

Then there's the whole other concept of trust of the domain the links comes from. TrustRank and PageRank are two different things.

That's why the links still hold value. The same thing applies to any website, not just BMR ones.

Homepage links are way way way overrated. I have done many studies and tests on this. Lets say you have a domain that is a PR4. Now you post to that blog and it falls off the homepage. The individual page of that post is 1 link away from that PR4 (at least thats how BMR has it set up). That 1 step away still gives incredible link juice.

Here's an example test I did. Mind you no other linking was done.

2 very similar pages both ranking closely to each other with no links to start. All the links that ended up being created had the same anchor text.

- Page 1 -
2 x PR3 homepage links
2 x PR4 homepage links

- Page 2 -
2 x PR3 blog posts (not homepage)
2 x PR4 blog posts (not homepage)

After 3 weeks Page 1 was ranking #18 and page 2 was ranking #27. I then added:

2 more PR3 blog posts (not homepage) to page 2
2 more PR4 blog posts (not homepage) to page 2

After 2 more weeks page 2 ranked #14 and page 1 was #17. This was just 1 of many tests I did in this style. Basically what this is saying is that the homepage links are more powerful, but they aren't that much more powerful at all.

1 last thing. Mind you this is the case with BMR blogs because they don't have many posts made to them before the blogs are shutdown in order to maintain their power. Something like Ezinearticles will not provide the same secondary link juice since there are so many pages touching the homepage.
