Pingo-o-Matic and SEO

Someone showed me a site called Ping-o-Matic, and apparently you can use it to ping search engines to re-crawl a blog in order to update backlinks... Does anybody know if this is specifically for blogs or if you can use it to ping a search engine for standard webpage updates?

You can use pingomatic to ping anything. I prefer to use social bookmarking sites like Digg, Delicious, Linked In and social sites like Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus to get my sites and back links indexed quickly. No real effect on SEO, unless your page wasn't going to get indexed otherwise.
