How important are unique IPs for backlinks?

I was playing around with Traffic Travis and I saw that they count the number of unique IPs (and domains) that backlinks come from. Does anyone know how important this is compared to absolute number of backlinks? I suspect that this is one thing that the algorithm change has played with.

Unique IPs are very good for the backlinks.It would rank your site good and will be trusty in view of google.

I chose not to show my signature on this thread because most of my back links come from here. Probably not such a good idea. It's supposed to look like other people are linking to you naturally.

Well, Google is not concerned with the I.Ps of the backlinks. It is mainly concerned with the relevancy of the link and its reputation. In cases when spammy backlinks are coming from same website or same ip, Google tries to figure any blackhat activity.

well from what i know and practice, backlinks from unique ips are more of value than backlinks that come from all the same location.

just something i've heard throughout my time dealing with SEO.

I think IP management portion is no-follow for search engines and they can't effect for any search engine like google bing yahoo.!

Although in some areas IP management is not that necessary now, something tells me Panda may sing a different song in 2012.

Backlink from more IP adress will make it look quite natural and seems not spammy in the eye of Google.

Google is not really concern on I.P. but on quality and relevancy of the backlinks.

Google said that they don't take IP into consideration, but who knows? They could be lying.

I've tested this before, and IP diversity didn't seem to affect me at all. Still, if you want to be safe and avoid any footprints, it's probably better to diversify. They can always change their algorithms to incorporate it.

If you are getting links from unique PR that is has much more value than get links from same IP and same domain. It shows search engine that your website is more relevant for the search key phrases and authority level of your site will increase.

Getting links from unique IP addresses gives more value than getting them from the same IP address we have right now. You need to have a high quality VPN service with lots of good proxies out there, or you can buy a SEO hosting service with unique class-C IP's.

It is true that your backlink profile will be better than your competitors if your backlinks come from a wider range of IP addresses than theirs.
