Good SEO ranking without backlinks?

Hello Everyone,
I was just reading an e-book in which the author states that with themed content you can rank well in Google without the need of buildings backlinks. I was wondering if this is true or if I am wasting my time just writing themed articles without building any backlink to the pages....

Of course you can rank with no backlinks. I do it all the time in odd niches that don't have much competition. Great content, and a few GOOD, QUALITY back links can work wonders for you.

I'm not sure what a "themed article" is, but you can most certainly rank without building links.

However, it's unlikely you'll rank for anything even mildly competitive or stay ranked beyond any type of new content bonus without either 1) building links or 2) managing to pick up some organic links.

In my opinion, just writing articles won't ever be enough unless your content is so amazing and unique the world can't help but look at it.

It may only possible for that niche that people really can't even imagine. No competition for this. Just do some unique content and you will see it rank 1 for your keywords within some days may be.

If you manage to rank for a keyword without backlinks then no one is trying to rank for it and therefore there is little or no money in it.

If you want to earn money you will need to work hard to get ranked and earn. That is unless you have great content or software and lots of people link to your site naturally but then you don't get to choose any targeted anchor text.

2) Every day tons of domain sold or bought to promote any kind of products.

Writing original articles and adding unique content pages to the websites can definitely help them to get top ranks but the point you are referring to could be true only if the targeted niches are so light that writing a few articles will help reaching top positions on Google and other search engines. Links have proved to be essential parts of the modern SEO world and without them, addition of even hundreds of pages of contents to sites may not guarantee top ranks.

It is actually recommended to keep websites updated with fresh and useful contents and at the same time build links for them, using the primary words an anchors and the combination of contents plus links will create a great formula. Thousands of websites have reached top positions on Google this way and although in some cases weeks and even months of constant work would be needed, but efforts will pay at the end. Do not forget to gather some good links for your website.

Its pretty hard to rank without backlinks. But you might try just backlinking to your homepage, and letting the juice from your homepage flow to your sub-pages.

That author knows that search engines (most likely Google) are not that link-oriented like many SEOs think. Yes backlinks are important in some ways. But to consider it as the most vital aspect of optimizing a site, I'm quite skeptical about it in my experience.

What I mean is that, backlinks are just a small piece of Google's big puzzle in giving rank to a site. That's why you will notice sometimes that there are many SEOs whining about their site is not doing well in search engines though they are doing a good backlinking campaign.

It's definitely possible to rank without links. However, on the other side of things ... I'd like to see someone rank for "credit repair" without backlinks.

if you can rank a new site without backlink, it could be the keyword is too easy, most of the time has low search amount, which is not worth targeted. However, if you own a big site which have the theme (such as getridofthings ranks well for keywords started with get rid of), it will be a lot easier to rank, even for the hard keywords.

You will rank well with Good content (See Wikipedia) Coz when people found quality article on your site, they will link back to you. But it is hard to get people found it and link. So SEO come to play in this case.

You can not rank with NO backlinks. If you have NO backlinks how are the spiders going to find your site in the firstplace?

You can rank for some terms with content but you will need at least 1 backlink that is visible to the crawlers for them to index your site.

Whats the point of creating good content if you are not going to tell anybody about it?

Yes you are wasting your time, Trying to do SEO without backlinks is pointless and absurd. Sure you can rank number one for "Papa Joes Rasberry muffins" but the only one searching for that term will be Papa Joe and customers who already know him.

Many people completely forget about their on-page seo and just concentrate on backlinks. This is the completely wrong way to do things.

You must first make sure your on-page seo is perfect as your find that in easy niches you will appear on the first page without any links at all. However a few high quality backlinks and good on-page seo will work wonders.

Keyword Compare is 0. And you optimization good onpage. You will get page 1 with no backlinks. I have #1 on google with no backlink.

There are a few good search terms with little comp, and if google knows
about your site, who knows?

Most of those examples are parlor tricks, by SEO wannabes selling
snake oil, by saying, see I rank #1 for this that and the other. And
also allows people to puff their chest and say I rank #1! When in
reality, nobody is searching for those exact terms.

The kicker is, people forget that backlinks come in all flavors, from
internal to certain webcrawlers that create links for anything
created on the web.

SEO without backlinks, however, is dead.

The flipside of this question would be, "Can I rank with no SEO, but
just backlinks?"

It happens.

If content is king, backlinks are queen.
