Default Wordpress Internal Links

Hi and Happy New Year to you all,

I am in need of some help please, I have been online for a little while now but I am new to Wordpress an I am struggling to find any information that I can understand on internal linking, and the correct way to internaly link the posts on my blog which I understand is essential for SEO.

Do I link all my posts to my homepage? or is it best to link my Categories to the homepage and then link all the posts within a category together.

I am looking for a bit of an idiot guide along the lines of, link this post to this page and then link to this post, but don't link to this page.

It is probably very simple if you know but at the moment I don't know so your help would be very much appreciated.

Thank you

Just link to other pages that are going to be beneficial for the reader who is reading that specific post. It really isnt that hard

HI,
So not all pages and posts have to be interlinked then?
I was under the impression that they did.
Thanks for your help

Isn't your homepage link on the menu bar or in the sidebar (widget)? I put the category and page widget in the sidebar so it's on every page and post for easy navigation (Google's webmaster guidelines). There's some plugins you may want to check out (Google it):

SEO Smart Links
SEO Auto Links & Related Posts

Hi,
thanks for your reply.
Yes I do have categories and recent posts in the side bar but I am using seo pressor which I probably should have mentioned before which tells me after every post I create that I do not have a link to other pages.
So this is why I thought I had to link to all pages.

Smart Links is a great free plugin you can install on WP in the plugin section that does this for you.

I use the default Recent Posts Plus, but I am interested in some sort of plug-in that is more flexible that would allow me to put a static link in the section and not just links to the recent posts. Something that offers a bit more control. I am not sure if there is such an animal, but it is hard to search for the specific piece I am looking for.

If your theme allows you to have an author box, couldn't you just place it into the author box so every single post you write it goes into that? If not, I'm sure there are plugins that allow for author boxes. That's easier to implement & counted as in-content links.
