Can Social Bookmarking increase rank?

I know Social Bookmarking is very useful for indexing your website. But I used this technique once for increasing the rank for a particular keyword and didn't got any impressive results. Did it helped anyone for that purpose?

If you hit a site with a 2-3K SB blast you can see some very impressive ranking improvements, as in from >1000 to first page with some KWs. In my experience, the new rank doesnt really stick that well and they tend to slide back down unless you are doing other high quality backlinking.

So long as its do follow and have some page rank it will surely help your ranking. There are several ways you can use this techniques, you can create some level of tier links and build rank to it or create a link wheel and blast your site with the social bookmarking links.

You will want to do this consistently until you arrive at your destination.

It doesn't have to be dofollow, and doesn't have to have pagerank either.

Yes, in volume it will help you rank keywords. In my experience a dripped campaign (let's say 1500 bookmarks) over a month will have about 60-70% of the effectiveness as a 1500 bookmark blast immediately on a page/site.

Yes it doesn't have to be do follow but you certainly what majority of the links to be do follow. A mixture of no follow and more of do follow is needed.

Social Bookmarking definitely be helpful to get the rank for the keyword. But be sure that you have choose the right keyword for your site. As keyword in the sense title as it is the thing that drive people to click on your link. And with the right title provide unique description that attract people to your site. So this way through unique description and related title you can get success using social bookmarking method.

The problem could be that you used it only once. Maybe you didn't do enough. Maybe the SB sites all had Zero Page rank so you didn't get much quality links. I'm just guessing but it can be any of these reasons.

Social BM does not help that much unless you have a following (let's say on Digg) that click on your link - then it will help you a little in the SERPs.

In my experience in using social bookmarking, yes it can help you to increase your SERP ranking. However, this should done properly by targeting the right keywords and making a good description.

Spam and idiotic takeovers killed it.

I only use social bookmarking to get decent backlinks but I never think of it as a way to get better ranking. If you are determined to get a nice rank in Google then do article marketing, build links in high ranking sites by blog commenting, forum marketing helps out too.

I do use social bookmarking for backlinking and get results. What I don't do, however, is automated bookmark generation and submission (well, I do use tools such as Social Adr to submit my bookmarks automatically). I create unique spun content (not automatically spun, I mean manual spun content that is readable and unique) and submit that.

According to me and with my experince I have seen social media incresses vistior on my site it never help me to get to the rankings.
