I have a number of content websites with pay per click. I am all white hat and conservative. I put a load of excellent content articles in the 450-500 word range and personally add backlinks through forums and blogs all on a regular basis. However, almost all my sites seem to hit a wall at around 12-16 months and I lose a lot of my keyword clout. They seem to do great for 4 or 5 months before that but I have had sites drop from 300 keywords to 35-40 keywords during this period without having changed anything - I still add articles and backlinks on a steady basis. Any helpful ideas on why they would do that? Thanks for your time in advance. Sorry if I didn't make myself clear. Where I am losing keywords is in SemRush organic keywords. My sites start off with a bang and the organic keywords keep getting higher and then they reach a certain point and then start going down every month. |

Don't really understand how do you actually loose keywords? Do you loose ranking on google? If that there is numerous things that could be problem. As i understood you are using PPC, if it was small websites which backlinks do you use? If you could explain better maybe i could help you. Thanks

My sites start off going up every month in SemRush organic keywords, but they reach a high and start going down as steadily as they went up. I just added a comment to my post giving this information. Thanks

Maybe you need to add more variety to your backlinking campaign. What you are describing seems a bit strange but I think getting a variety of services would help, since it would look more natural to the eyes of google.

Trends? Maybe your keywords are not a long-lived keywords? Or maybe they are seasonal? |

12-16 months doesn't really seem like a strict enough time range to say that what you're seeing is an observable trend with consistent cause. You could just be seeing a natural decline as more players enter the keyword area you're targeting? Have you checked out the nature of the competitors you're losing out to after the 12-16 month period? Are their sites bigger, better, etc than yours? |
