I'm just wondering what peoples opinions are on the best free SEO tools and software available out there? Whether its backlinking tools, analysis tools or any other type of SEO tool. What are your thoughts?

Best free analysis tool - Google Keyword Tool. Why? Because it gives you a decent information with accurate source. |

Have you tried free traffic system? I am using it and have increased my backlinks considerably. Some disadvantages though, there are usually from a given set of low pr sites. Try article ranks and the authority link network if you have a pr blog. Disadvantage of these is that you shall have to bear the fact that your pr site shall have to be filled with spun and sometimes low quality content. But when you make enough to pay for services, you can go back and edit them and have this problem no longer. Cheers. |

| Best for keyword research - Google Adwords Keyword Tool (already mentioned here). You might as well use the free version of Link-Assistant's Rank Tracker, it offers more options, but needs to be installed to a PC. Best for backlink check - SEO Spyglass, had gotten a little worse when Yahoo Site Explorer shut down, but now began to use its own database and seems to be working just fine. Best for analytics - Google Analytics, has been slightly annoying lately, with the "keyword not provided" staff, but still is a great app in many ways, very powerful if you know how to set it up. |

Like any other software, you need to determine how much your budget is before choosing the best software for your keyword research. There are great softwares within certain range of budget. If you can spend a little for a better quality, I would encourage you to give a try to SECockpit.

Traffic Travis would be my favorite free tool. It's surprisingly feature-rich, considering they've got a paid version as well.
