Default Better to rank for competitive KW's, or opt for something more specialized?

I am in the process of re-designing my site and have come to the copywriting stage.

Also time to think about what keywords I'd like to try and rank for.

My business provides a press release writing and distribution service. On my current site I am ranking for:

. Press release
. Press release service
. Press Release Writing
. Press Release Distribution

Now, even though I am ranking well (Page 1/2) I am not getting anywhere near enough traffic.

Would it be better to try and rank for some of the more less-obvious keywords, in order to try and rank better?

I've got a copy of Fast Attack SEO - which suggests instead trying to rank for some of the less obvious keywords, in order to rank better with less competition.

I'm stuck for what to do, and keyword research is something I don't really understand or have the time to focus on (My main business activities have me running at a million miles an hour each day!).

Any advice?

Aim at long tail keywords that include "press release" in them. Make subpages each tailored to a specific keyword(s), but dont forget to keep the entire bunch related as much as possible.

Try innerlinking them between eachother (via content linking, not just in the sidebar or footer).

But all in all, just keep posting quality content, which is related to the main theme and all will be well.

Just my thoughts

Sincerely, Buyseech
